Codes are recited at the beginning of class to help students bring their mind to the present and put aside distractions so they may focus on receiving instruction.  The Go Do Shin is recited at the end of class so students may remember what they have learned and carry the spirit of karate-do outside the dojo.

 Henceforth, I shall faithfully train to strengthen my mind and body.

I shall not use my skill outside the dojo except in the most extreme circumstances.
